A significant driver of Lawler’s success to date has been an innate understanding of the unequivocal need to get the right people on board. Prior to joining Libertas, Lawler spent three years turning around four hi-tech/bio-tech companies, typically as interim-COO and VP of Sales & Marketing. A substantial part of his overall deliverable has been aligning the strategic and character requirements of his clients with the proper skill sets and personalities, across a broad range of functions. Prior to this, he served as Managing Director of Northeast Operations for Scient, an e-Business consulting firm, where he was personally responsible for attracting and hiring 85 consultants from disparate backgrounds (strategy consulting to IT infrastructure) in nine months. His office also recorded the lowest attrition (2%) of all nine of Scient’s offices. Lawler started at Scient as an Engagement Manager in the business unit focused on venture-funded start ups. Before Scient, he did strategy M&A consulting focused on communication technologies. He started his career in a customer service and supply chain capacity for a Japanese chemical firm helping to expand their US operations from $2 to 40 million in five years. He also introduced the first Web-based admissions process to the higher-education market. Leveraging his experience in Search and motivational speaking, Lawler recently partnered with Pearson Prentice Hall to publish his first book, titled “Passion at Work: How to Find Work You Love and Live the Time of Your Life’, which has received tremendous industry and consumer response. Lawler has a MBA from The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania in Entrepreneurial Management and earned his undergraduate degree from Vassar College in International Studies.
